Script Coverage & Screenwriting Mentorship – Hughes Scriptworks
Because your story deserves better than a first draft.
I’m Jonathan Hughes, a screenwriter, script supervisor, and script consultant with a decade’s worth of experience working in funded short films, alongside a Screen Ireland feature grant. I also hold a Master’s degree in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths, University of London. You can read more about my background here.
Over the years, I’ve seen scripts of every shape and size — and I know what makes them click on screen.
Hughes Scriptworks is my freelance script development, script coverage and screenwriting mentorship service for writers and filmmakers in Ireland and internationally. I help writers, students, and indie filmmakers polish their scripts so they’re tight, compelling, and ready for production.

In Progress Sessions FAQ
Do I need finished pages each week?
No. Some weeks we’ll be talking through pages, other weeks we’ll be unpicking problems or planning the next stretch.
How long do writers usually work with you?
Most people book in blocks of 4–6 weeks, but it can be flexible depending on the project.
Is this suitable for first-time writers?
Yes — as long as you’re actively writing and open to feedback.
Is this script coverage?
No. This is a conversation-led process focused on development as it happens, rather than a written notes document.
What kind of projects do you work on?
Short films, features, and TV pilots, across comedy, drama, and genre.
How is pricing structured for In Progress Sessions?
Pricing is project-dependent and based on the scope, duration, and type of work you’re developing. Once I know a bit about the project and what kind of support you’re looking for, I can suggest a structure that makes sense for both of us.
